I'm ready to go back to the Cayman Islands now...
I am amazed at how much I miss the Cayman Islands, the beautiful tropical paradise I had been working, playing, and living in for 3 weeks. I have been working with my friend's father, the owner of a home remodeling company, roofing and remodeling kitchens. It's hard work, but believe it or not I've had a lot of time to day dream while I get into the groove of prying off shingles 20 feet in the air, and it's crazy to think that just a few weeks ago, my "commute" to work was driving down the road with my fellow interns, donning our scuba equipment, and swimming out to the reef.
I've caught the Cayman bug. Since being home, I have thought about nothing besides returning. After my internship in Little Cayman, I spent another 5 days with my family on Grand Cayman, scuba diving multiple times a day and basking in the Caribbean sun. While I was out of my various adventures, I met divemasters and dive instructors from all over the world, and I can honestly say I think I found my calling, my perfect job. They hop around dive resorts all over the world, year to year, working/teaching at some of the most exotic reaches of the Earth, diving 4 to 5 times a day, and getting paid to do it! What more could you ask for, especially as a young, budding marine scientist?
Although I didn't really get a feel for the native Caribbean culture, I still feel that traveling abroad as opened my eyes and has made me more mature, responsible, and forced me to pay more attention to detail. Now that I have traveled abroad and have a valid passport for the next 10 years, the world is my playground!

The Caribbean has always been one of my favorite places to travel. I hope you get the chance to return soon!
