Everyday life in Groningen

I never ever want to leave this city! It’s so full of life and activity, three and a half weeks is simply not enough time. I think I mentioned this before but the city is primarily all students, many internationals as well. I’ve gotten the chance to meet so many amazing people from all over the world. There are many things to do here. One of my favorite things is the market they have every few days. I went there mostly to buy fresh fruits and veggies, but you can get just about anything there. Another thing we loved doing was going to the park. When the weather is nice, you can find just about the entire student population of the city in the park. Some people are working out, some play sports, but most sit around in the grass talking and picnicking with friends. The nightlife in Groningen is also amazing. My favorite thing was the ESN parties. They are an organization catered towards international students. They throw themed parties once or twice a week at a club for all the international students in the city. It's a great way to make friends from all over. Besides all the socializing, my favorite part about Groningen was definitely the biking. Everyone bikes everywhere, rain or shine. The infrastructure of the city actually makes it quite inconvenient to travel by bus or car. I’ve already decided that when I get back to school in the fall, I will bring my bike with me. I loved everything about this city, except maybe the weather sometimes. But besides that, there is nowhere else I’d rather be.
