Bienvenidos a Belice (Welcome to Belize)

June 1st-June 2nd

Hi everyone, sorry my blogs look one right after the other, but I just had some trouble getting to writing it. Anyways today, June 2nd, officially marks my second day here in the beautiful city of San Ignacio in the district of Cayo. It's only been two days and I already love it here !!! I could definitely get used to living here, well it might take me some time to get used to the humidity, hence the tropics weather, but it's a really wonderful place. As soon as I arrived at the airport in Belize there was a group of bongo players playing music inside where we pick up our luggage (shown below), which I found really cool cause I've never seen it anywhere else.

At the arrivals gate Mrs. Cynthia, our program coordinator, met us with a warm smile and ISIS sign, and took us to go get some lunch. We had Chinese food, which took about an hour to get our food.
We're all finally heree !!

ISIS students having lunch together !

It was about a 2-hour drive to the resort so I was able to look around the city.
At times I would see some very pretty colorful houses, and then it would be plain grasslands and mountains for miles. You can see all culture and diversity there is !
 Some horses :)

Pretty colors !

Once we got to the resort, we unpacked and headed out for some dinner as a group at this place called Hode's. They had really good quesadillas.

At night it nice to just refresh to just cool off in the pool and hang out at the bar from the resort.
Btw I was watching the Heat game :)

Day 2: June 2, 2013

Today was orientation day. We had a quick orientation detailing everything we needed to know while we were here. Mrs. Cynthia was also going over some of the languages spoken here, such as Spanish and Creole. Creole is sort of like English, but not as pronounced. For example, instead of saying Good morning, they will say Gud Mawnin, and instead of saying How do you do?, they'll say how du yu? They sort of slur it and cut of unneccesary words, enough that you can understand what they mean to say. After orientation we had a quick lunch, and then headed to an archaelogical  maya site called Xunantunich. It was pretty fascinating to see how the Mayan's lived and where they used to do their sacrifices.

Real fact: I was 130 ft high, I was pretty scared taking this pic lol
Im glad my group is dorky about taking pictures !
