Exploring Wines

July 4, 2013

Yesterday, we went to Bouchard Pere et fils in Beaune for an amazing wine-tasting session. The Bouchard family was considered a negociant, people that do not make their own wines but buy wines from others and then sell them. The oldest wine at Bouchard Pere was from 1846, and I believe it costed around 10,700 Euros.

We tried 3 reds and 3 whites. My favorite was the second red – it was so fruity and smooth and delicious!

We then went to a wine museum, where we were able to see the tools and equipment used in making wines. We also got a better understanding of the wine-making process.

We ended our day by visiting a hospital called Hospices de Beauce, which was used as a shelter and treatment facility for mostly impoverished people.
