The Countdown

Hello all. I will be taking to the skies on June 3rd to begin my month long adventure in Belize as a student of the ISIS Belize summer studies program. My particular program is concentrated in Animal Science: Large Animal Veterinary Practices in the Tropics. I am on track at Rutgers as a senior starting in the fall pursuing a B.S in Bio/Animal Science and an additional 5th year to get my masters in Science Education. I have never been out of this country in all my 21 years. A lot of it has to do with the financial inability to fund a trip. Now thanks to the Study Abroad department, I like all of you, have this wonderful opportunity to have my trip mostly paid for. Program wise this experience will give me a strong basis in the Large Animal side of the veterinary world to gear me up as I apply to post secondary education ( Vet School). I am excited to be taught on the field how to execute some primary procedures with the twist of being in a country with less of a reliance on the most cutting edge technology and more on ingenuity and medical intuition. As for being out of the country, I look forward to immersing in a new culture while taking a break from the fast paced cluttered lifestyle typical in America. I cant wait to fly, I never have so I am hoping it will be an exciting new experience. Most of all I want to enjoy the beautiful scenary, fresh air, fresh culture and fresh mentality that I never experienced. I think this trip is exactly what I need in this part of my life, I am just patiently awaiting the Countdown. (:
