Munchen day 2

May 25, 2013
Munich or Munchen is a beautiful place full of history everywhere you walk. Just walking down the street one can see buildings from different time periods right next to each other. Today we visited Marienplatz which is a square that has a statute of Maria in the center. The square was fooled with people today because it was market day and game day. From there we followed the axis of the city. From there we also visited the English garden that is filled with picturesque views. The beginning of it though was a renaissance garden. What was really moving was the memorial for the students of the white rose. For those who don't know these people they were students who were executed because they suggested living in a democracy during the the rein of Hitler.  There are many ways the landscape has changed as a result of the needs of the people. There is a part of a stream in the English garden that had concrete pieces put on the bottom so surfers can use the current and ride a wave. In the garden is also the Chinese tower which has a popular beer garden next to it. We ended the day with watching the Wembley cup where we cheered on the MC Bayern Munich to victory!
