Before the Adventure Begins
I find it hard to believe that in 8 hours I will be on a fight to Germany, my first fight to Europe. As this thought occurs in my mind, a rush of emotions flood my body. Nerves, excitement, and fear are just three and they will not go away. Germany is a country that scares me only for the fact that I do not speak German. They do speak English but the thought of not being able to communicate with some people is frightening. I will defiantly miss my family while I am away but at the same time I get to explore my heritage a bit. This is something that I have not been able to do and am grateful that I get the chance. While I am excited for that opportunity, I am also excited because I get to experience post-industrial landscapes there. It is something that I am very passionate about and want to possibly focus on once I graduate. Germany has been taking industrial sites and making them usable. Just one of the things they have is the Route of Industrial Heritage which is located in West Germany. Even though I am writing a paper about it for the class, it is still exciting to hear about a place that I will seen in a matter of a few weeks. Wish me luck as I embark on this adventure. Auf Wiedersehen! Deutschland hier komme ich!
